Jim Hilt Vice President of eBooks at Barnes & Noble is focusing “from device to content”. Speaking at the Digital World Book Conference he noted that while eBooks and eReading devices are popular, he doesn’t feel that the print book is going away. “The device is just an entry point at helping consumers do what they already do today, which is read great books and discover content. Putting the browsing experience that you can get in a bookstore on a 7-inch display is the challenge of our industry right now. The idea that the print book is going to die some slow long death is actually a fallacy,” he said.

He predicts that “after the novelty” of eReaders has worn off, readers will be back in bookstores and will purchase a combination of eBooks and print books.
